Highly consistent Indian Ocean swells make the Maldives one of the planet’s most consistent surfing playgrounds. Kuda Huraa lies within a short boat ride of nine breaks, a mix of lefts and rights, with some rated world class. Quality surf is found almost every day – usually at renowned spots like Sultans, Jails and Honkys that are just five to ten minutes by boat from the resort.
Softer waves of less quality are close by and often un-surfed. Expect to ride perfectly peeling waves of extraordinary quality. Easy take-offs and long rides (100 to 200 metres) allow time to think and perfect one’s technique. These warm-water breaks can be enjoyed on any type of craft during any tide. Winds are mostly offshore though prone to monsoonal squalls through-out the surf season.
Typical size is chest-high to once-overhead though can definitely become bigger, particularly between June and September, the peak season for swell. March/April and October/November swells are normally small/medium and clean while December through to March offers small but un-crowded surf.
