Our goal is empty line-ups. You will visit remote regions – very often with no others surfing. Tropicsurf’s philosophy is that we best capture the true spirit of surfing adventure when we take you to secluded breaks. While the presence of other boats increases as the years go by, in 2009 with hundreds surfing North Male, our guests enjoyed empty line-ups on the majority of days! This is largely thanks to the expertise of our guides. The combinations of wind, tide and swell direction across 1200 islands are endless. This means that only the most experienced of guides have the knowledge to deliver their guests to the best spots at the right times on a consistent basis. Our 13 years experience here and intricate local knowledge has uncovered dozens of waves – many of which are prized secrets. Our guests return year after year because the Tropicsurf experience is peaceful, relaxing and in the true aloha spirit. You don’t have to be good either – this is an exciting but safe trip that can be enjoyed by many abilities. Entry level surfers should at least be able to catch and angle green waves. Fun, easy waves can be found even in the largest of swells.
For surfers seeking un-crowded set ups, our Outer Atoll trips offer a fresh and exciting journey. This itinerary involves a private seaplane charter to or from the boat. It’s a scenic flight you’ll remember forever, as the views are stunning. Depending on date, you either sail-out / fly-back or fly-out / sail-back (to Male). This “one-way” type of journey allows us to venture further a-field to access more secluded breaks. To date surf in these parts is rarely crowded and line-ups are frequently empty. Crowd avoidance is our priority. Another advantage is you’ll access breaks for additional swell and wind directions – something few tours can offer. Web forecasts allow our team to accurately determine swell and wind forecasts. The complex bathymetry of the atolls ensures there are often hidden gems that other operators do not know about. Between 2006 and 2009 Tropicsurf guests enjoyed dozens of empty, well overhead days when the crowded North Male breaks were only waist high.

A feature unique to Tropicsurf is the add-on experiences we can offer around the best surf times. With two qualified guides and a range of equipment, we can facilitate services including stand up paddle lessons (in calm lagoon or surf - all equipment is supplied), waterman training (breath improvement, learning to relax under waves etc…), technique and style coaching utilizing video/photo analysis, learn to surf lessons, tube-riding or nose-riding clinics and lessons on surfboard design or weather analysis. In fact Tropicsurf offers dozens of different activities that may appeal to all kinds of people. Further examples include snorkelling in turquoise waters teeming with neon-coloured sea life, night fishing or trolling, skurfing, beach BBQ’s on private deserted islands, local-style curry cooking classes, island sightseeing and cultural presentations, Maldivian language orientation or yoga. Even if the surf is not great, you can still learn, be challenged, keep active and stay entertained.
(Please note that the spa/massage service may not be offered on this particular boat.)
With Tropicsurf’s attention to service, and a varied activity and sightseeing program, partners or family can stay as busy or relaxed as they wish. The boat is designed with some charming touches: all rooms are private and comfortable, the décor contemporary, quality wines and cocktail list for every taste, sunbathing deck, numerous quiet areas for reading and relaxing and attentive service from our friendly and helpful staff. There is a certain sense of adventure that goes with this holiday. Many ladies enjoy the chance to get away from the confines of a resort. This is a unique opportunity to discover exotic cultures, rarely visited islands, calm water anchorages and experience a part of the world that few Westerners are privileged to visit.
