My recent Tropicsurf Maldives trip was the best holiday I have ever had! Being a long-boarder of very modest ability, I was rather intimidated by the thought of big winter swells at the Maldives but was reassured by email communication before I got there. Everything promised came true with consistent classic rolling waves of around 2m every day except for two days in the middle when it cranked up to the biggest swell in 3 years. One day was too big for anyone to venture out but, with my coach alongside me, we did have a short session on the second big day. Wow, that was great to watch coach, Kym, in action even though I did not manage to ride one. Every other day, i rode as many waves as I could possibly dream of and the expert coaching certainly improved my skill level. Accommodation at the Anantara resort was superb and the staff were great. I am looking forward to my next Tropicsurf trip and so much so that I think I will cancel next year's 60th birthday bash in favour of another trip!
