One of Australia’s cherished getaways, Noosa’s appeal lies in its natural beauty. It’s golden beaches, warm clear waters, rocky coves, National Park and rolling hinterland recently helped the town secure World Biosphere status from UNESCO.
Noosa uniquely blends coastal walkways and alfresco dining amidst koalas and eucalypt forests to create a green and in-vogue style of eco-tourism that is chic and appealing. Add to this an array of fine restaurants, boutique shops, spas, luxury accommodation and an enticing selection of non-surfing diversions and Noosa becomes the perfect destination that everybody will delight in visiting
Noosa is situated 1.5 hours drive north of Brisbane International airport or 20mins north of Maroochydore’s Sunshine Coast airport.
The region of Noosa consists of about 7 different hubs which are often credited with the ambience of a ‘village atmosphere’.Hastings Street, Little Cove, Noosaville and Sunshine Beach are to name a few. Each hub offers a distinct charm and uniqueness with a range of accommodation options spanning luxury beach-front apartments, sophisticated rental homes, and small 3 to 5 star resorts.
Your choice of where to stay may depend on whether you have children, what type of waves you like to be near and how much peace and quiet you prefer. Tropicsurf can help you to determine what best suits your needs.
Noosa offers a diversity of waves suiting all abilities. However the frequent small, peeling, sand-bottom waves make longboarding or learning to surf a real delight. In fact Noosa is somewhat of a longboarding mecca with First Point being a world-class nose riding wave and home to the annual Festival of Surfing each March.
Noosa’s National Park consists of 5 world-class point breaks. While big swells can be inconsistent and crowded, smaller point waves are more reliable and less competitive. Rides can be hundreds of metres long and the National Park backdrop is picturesque. Surrounding breaks include a rivermouth and numerous beach breaks of varying size and challenge.
Noosa may not have the uncrowded quality of say the Maldives, but there is always somewhere to surf or find an empty peak and the location can be enjoyed in so many other ways. A highlight of a Tropicsurf week can be accessing the amazing reefbreaks at Old Woman island by jetski. This is something few others are lucky enough to experience. So too is our four-wheel drive excursion to Double Island Point. Here you can surf turquoise water with dolphins whilst riding perfect longboard waves that can peel for a kilometre. Waves exist year round though the best time is February through to June. School holiday periods are extremely busy.
A Tropicsurf Noosa week may encompass our full range of experiences. Noosa is home base for TS and most of our guides. This means we always have some of our best coaches available to deliver personalized learn to surf experiences or fine tune your technique under our renowned Ride Program .
